Keep Cool & Comfortable
For many of us, it is essential that our electronics perform as they should when we need them to, especially when our business and/or job is on the line. And it is with this in mind that RubberLaptopFeet.com was created.
Today’s computers were designed to obtain maximum performance in the smallest, thinnest, and lightest way possible. They also are designed to look good. When using a computer to the maximum the components will generate a lot of heat, especially if the laptop is charging at the same time. Years ago laptops were big and bulky and included 1 or more large fans to take the heat generated from the components and blow on them and the heat would escape via side or bottom vents. Todays smaller and thinner units simply do not allow for a large fan or fans like the old units and instead rely heavily upon “airflow”
to keep the unit cool.
I am sure those of you that use a laptop has experienced the laptop getting extremely warm if it is being used while on a bed or carpeting. This is because no air is allowed to circulate through the laptop.
Cooling Pads
Cooling pads are simply units that contain 1 or more fans and are placed under your laptop to blow air onto the bottom of the unit to help keep it cool. They are usually powered via a USB cable that plugs into the USB port of your computer to power the fans. They are very effective at helping to cool the unit as it is forcing air onto the bottom of the unit, and, because they are the same width as the unit they are covering the entire bottom with constant airflow.
When considering purchasing a unit you’ll want to consider:
– How many fans does the unit contain ? I prefer a unit with at least 2 fans
– How much does the unit weigh ? There is no sense in buying a light laptop and then having a heavy cooling pad
– Thickness – like your laptop the thinner the better, especially if you plan on bringing the cooling pad with you it will have to be small to fit into your carrying bag.
– Noise. You’ll want a cooling pad that is nice and quiet
– Durability – you’ll want a unit that is going to last. Some cooling pads are made of cheap plastic and they are not very durable at all, I prefer a lightweight metal unit as it is much stronger.
